The family friendly community of Dana Crest in Dana Point, California, is popular because of its location and affordability.
Dana Crest has no Home Owners Association dues or Mello Roos, but you’ll find luxury houses on larger-than-normal lots. Some properties rest on over 10,000 square foot lots. There are 193 single family homes and a variety of architectural styles, with single level and two story homes available. The low price point is accentuated by open and functional floor plans. Dana Crest has many cul-de-sac streets, and is considered to be well maintained.
Students in this community are served by the Capistrano Unified School District, which offers highly ranked facilities like John Malcom Elementary School and Marco Forster Middle School. Dana Hills High School, which is within walking distance, is also top notch and opened in 1972 making it one of the oldest high schools in the region. Its cross country team has won several state titles. There are also several private schools in this city such as Gloria Del Lutheran Pre-School, Dana Montessori, West River Academy, and Capo Beach Christian School.
Dana Crest is located in the Dana Hills area near the Laguna Niguel and Dana Point border. Residents are close to the Ocean Ranch shopping center, as well as the Dana Point Harbor and beautiful California beaches. This neighborhood is also near the St. Regis Hotel and the Ritz Carlton. Golf enthusiasts love that the Monarch Beach Golf Club is nearby, as well as the El Niguel Country Club which features a traditional 18-hole championship golf course.
The City of Dana Point is a popular surfing destination, as it has one of the few Orange County coast harbors. It was named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr. who wrote Two Years Before the Mast, describing this area as the “only romantic spot on the coast.” This city holds several events, including the Festival of Whales that began in 1972, and the Tall Ships Festival, which is one of the largest events on the West Coast.
